Welcoming Words

Hey guys. SpaceGuru5 here, bringing you my official blog. Est. 31 Aug 2012.

History

On May 21, 2018 (the 9th anniversary of my channel's creation), I posted a video discussing his entire YouTube history, starting from September 2007 and continuing to the date of the video's posting. The video itself was written and narrated in late April 2018, and the video was completed on May 11, 2018. This section is an abridged version of the video.

I have been actively using YouTube since September 2007. During that winter, I became aware of Cheezburger.com and aspired to be featured in a LOLcats book. After a few one-off appearances in a friend's YouTube videos, I created my YouTube account on May 21, 2009. Initially, I only used my accounts to watch and subscribe to other channels. However, this all changed when I decided to start creating videos on July 25, 2009.

Having used Anime Studio (now known as Moho) since early 2007, I decided to post short animations to my YouTube account. In November 2009, I came across YBF91 (who was still youngbloodfantasy92 at the time) and quickly became a fan of his content, which included rants and commentaries. This would inspire me to seek out other ranters and commentators, such as Brawlmaster08, Cyberwolf087, Ampharosman64, and MSkull01, among many others. This means that I was there to witness the tail end of the CC's separation from the Rant Community. Later on, in 2010, I began posting downloaded Flipnotes from Hatena. Upon my discovery of Windows Movie Maker that September, I began to use it as my main editing software. This all ultimately led to my transition period.

I began to transition from my older content when I posted my first rant on November 7, 2010. I began to phase out animations and Flipnote uploads from my usual line of content. Upon the upload of my first commentary on March 1, 2011, and the posting of his final Flipnote on March 6, my transition was complete. While I'm not as active in rants anymore, I continue to produce commentaries to the present day.

I initially garnered attention for his multiple commentaries on Guptill89, as well as my other repertoire of content. I stayed silent upon the outbreak of the CC Schism of 2012–2013 and the mass targeting of CC commentators, although I remarked negatively about dissenters who claimed the CC was dying. I still continued to garner positive reception throughout 2013 and 2014, despite my scarce upload patterns. On August 31, 2014, I began to use VideoPad instead of WMM, and since 2017 it has been my sole editing software.

In early 2014, I recognized the earliest signs of viewer drop-off, although I expressed my desire to keep moving forward. After serious personal events occurred on August 23 & 24, 2015, my views dropped off much quicker. This stagnation would continue until the Birb controversy (which he nicknames "The Very Messy Time") broke out on November 28, 2017. These events, combined with personal stress I underwent at the time, led to what I consider the worst months of my life.

Upon the conclusion of AvatarGate on February 24, 2018, I had evidently entered a period of general bitterness and depression. This would culminate in my secession from the CC on September 22, followed directly by a spiteful video harshly criticizing the CC and its recent actions. However, by the end of October, I began to rethink his stance and ultimately regret my actions and statements in September, as well as my attitude throughout the majority of 2018. This eventually led to me rejoining the CC on December 1 and joining the Cloud Palace on New Year's Day 2019. I currently wish to make a more positive comeback as a rejuvenated CC commentator.

The Eras of SpaceGuru5
Yes, I designate specific time periods to my lifetime on YouTube. As you might imagine, it's not a big list. Nonetheless, here are the different so-called eras of my channel's lifetime.

The Generic YouTuber Era (May 21, 2009 - July 24, 2009)
This is the period of time where I didn't make any videos; I simply watched videos, subscribed to other channels, and left a few comments here and there.

The Silent Era (July 25, 2009 - April 8, 2010)
This is the period of time where I began to make videos, yet all of them had no audio to them whatsoever. I guess I didn't know how to add music, either.

The Audible Era (Since April 9, 2010)
This is the period of time where any sound was present in my videos. This era continues into the present day.
  • The Flipnote Epoch (April 9, 2010 - August 7, 2010)
This is the period of time where I began regularly posting Flipnotes from the now-defunct Flipnote Hatena site onto my channel. This led to my most popular videos of all time - the Funny Dora series.
  • The WMM Epoch (September 26, 2010 - February 26, 2016)
This is the period of time where I used Windows Movie Maker to make videos of any sort.
    • Classic Period (September 26, 2010 - February 21, 2011)
This began when I discovered Windows Movie Maker and began making videos using the software, specifically text rants, "montages," and YouTube Poops. This was also when I began to be able to make videos in private. Even though these videos had sounds and music in them, none of them had my voice in them. By this time, my atrocious spelling habits were gone for good.
    • Modern Period (February 22, 2011 - February 26, 2016)
This is when I began using a headset mic or other microphone to record my voice for videos. Almost immediately came the arrival of commentaries and rants. This period ended when I decided to stick with VideoPad, though I occasionally still make videos with it.
  • The Cinematographic Epoch (Since May 2, 2011)
This is when I began using a camera of any sort to make films, movies, and videos. This era received a massive kick start when I got my Canon PowerShot A2300 16-mpx camera for my 15th birthday, which was on May 12, 2012. This epoch continues into the present day.
  • The Music Epoch (Since July 22, 2013)
This is when I posted my own original music to YouTube.
    • Classic Period (July 22, 2013 - January 21, 2014)
This began when I posted original music as demos recorded with my camera.
    • Modern Period (Since February 1, 2015)
This began when I discovered and used MuseScore to make original music. This briefly ended when I decided to post all my music stuff to SoundCloud, although I would eventually begin posting more music to my channel once more.
  • The VideoPad Epoch (Since August 31, 2014)
This is when I began using a free version of VideoPad Video Editor by NCH Software to make videos of any sort. This epoch continues into the present day.
Thanks again for your patience, and take care. :)
